Wandzel is a board-certified otorhinolaryngologist with over 20 years of experience providing patients with comprehensive ear, nose and throat care at his practice in Michigan. A Detroit native, Dr. Wandzel is fully committed to serving those in his community with the most advanced, state-of-the-art services available.

Dr. Wandzel graduated with as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  His postgraduate training included an internship at Botsford Hospital, a year of General Surgery study at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, and advanced residency training in Otorhinolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery.

Before his medical studies, Dr. Wandzel completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Master’s degree in Microbiology and is a Ph.D. candidate in Microbiology, all of which vastly prepared him for his extensive medical training.

In addition to his extensive training and practice experience, Dr. Wandzel is also affiliated with several professional organizations, including:

Lisa Hamzik, AuD, Director of Audiology

Lisa HamzikDr. Hamzik received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology and a Master of Science in Audiology from Wayne State University. She received her Doctorate of Audiology from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, now Salus University. Her previous employers have included another ENT office and her private practice. Dr. Hamzik is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a member of the American Speech, Hearing, and Language Association, and holds a Certification of Clinical Competency in Audiology. She especially enjoys working with patients to solve problems with their hearing aids, and helping them restore their hearing to its full potential.

Sandy Kujawa, AuD, Audiologist

Sandy KujawaDr. Kujawa received her Doctorate of Audiology from Central Michigan University. Her previous employers have included the Livingston County Department of Public Health and Henry Ford Hospital. She is especially interested in vestibular function/balance testing in adolescents. Dr. Kujawa is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a member of the American Speech, Hearing, and Language Association, and holds a Certification of Clinical Competency in Audiology.

Shannon Noble, Audiology Technician

Shannon NobleShannon recently graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She has also received her Associates in Science in 2009 from St. Clair County Community College. She is a member of the American Speech-Language, Hearing Association and the National Student Speech, Hearing, Language Association. She is able to fix minor hearing aid repairs, answer questions regarding your hearing aid order, and schedule hearing aid appointments.

Colleen Shepard, R.N., Surgical and Office Nurse

Colleen ShepardColleen studied nursing for 2 years at Michigan State University, and received her diploma in nursing from Hurley School of Nursing in Flint, Michigan. She has been certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and has been a member of the Association of O.R. Nurses (AORN) in the past. She has worked in oncology at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan before starting her career with Dr. Wandzel. She has worked for Dr. Wandzel since 1989. Colleen enjoys serving patients of all ages before, during, and after surgery.

Bianca Sitto, Medical Receptionist

Colleen ShepardBianca is currently attending classes at Oakland Community College, where she is finishing prerequisite courses to transfer to Wayne State University. Bianca had previously worked as a medical receptionist for two years prior to coming to Richard A. Wandzel’s office in August 2011. Bianca will assist you with scheduling appointments, collecting patient charges, and information regarding health insurance policies.

Michele Soos, M.A., Surgical Scheduling and Patient Care

Michele SoosMichele received her certification as a Medical Assistant from Ross Technical School. She has worked for one other ENT practice before beginning her career with Dr. Wandzel. Michele enjoys improving the quality of life for elderly patients.

Maria Wandzel, Office Administrator

Maria CruzMaria holds a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling, and recognizes the mind-body connection in health and healing. Stress reduction is vital for health, healing, and well-being. She urges our patients to reduce stress by exercising (most days); doing yoga, meditation, or prayer; eat a mostly plant diet; and to appreciate the present moment. Reducing stress will improve the general quality of one’s life, and consequently, help to improve one’s health.

As an Office Administrator, Maria ensures office consistency and quality. She welcomes all patient feedback.

Leah Vandenbussche, EHR Specialist, Administrative Assistant

Leah VandenbusscheLeah obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Oakland University. She is responsible for maintaining and updating our Electronic Health Record database, and creates medical templates and health forms for office and physician use. Leah works alongside Dr. Wandzel in the clinic, and assists staff with minor procedures. She has a passion for preventative medicine and contributes to patient education and instructing patients on ways to improve their health by diet and nutrition.

Leah enjoys learning and continuing her education. She will be certified this spring in medical nutrition form Cornell University, and will be attending Medical School this fall.
